Roof Replacement in Asheville, NC
When patching stops making sense, a full tear-off and new roof gives your home a fresh start. We remove the old layers, check the deck underneath and build a new roof you can count on.
- Tear-Off and Re-Roof
Starting Over the Right Way
Every roof reaches a point where repairs only buy a little time. Shingles curl and lose their granules, leaks show up in new places, and the attic starts to smell damp after a heavy rain. When that happens, a full replacement is usually the smarter use of your money. We serve homeowners across the Asheville area, and we start by telling you plainly whether your roof truly needs replacing or still has good years left with the right repairs.
A proper replacement starts with a complete tear-off. We remove the old shingles and underlayment down to the deck, which lets us see what has been hiding underneath. Soft or rotted decking gets replaced before anything new goes on, because a new roof laid over a weak deck will not last. Then we install fresh underlayment, flashing, ventilation and the finished roof, so every layer starts its life at the same time.
Replacement is also your chance to change materials. Some homeowners in Western North Carolina choose to move from asphalt shingles to metal when it is time to re-roof, while others prefer the look and lower upfront cost of shingles. We install both, and because we also make metal panels at our own shop, we can explain the tradeoffs from real experience. You get a written estimate before work starts, with no pressure either way.
What a Full Replacement Includes

Complete Tear-Off
We strip the old roofing down to the deck instead of layering over it. That removes extra weight from the house and lets us inspect the surface your new roof depends on.

Deck Repair
Any soft, cracked or water-stained decking is replaced before the new roof goes on. A solid deck holds fasteners properly and keeps the finished roof flat and even.

New Underlayment and Flashing
Fresh underlayment goes down across the whole roof, and flashing around chimneys, walls and valleys is renewed so the new roof carries no old weak points forward.

Ventilation Check
A replacement is the right time to fix poor attic airflow. We look at your intake and exhaust and correct problems that shorten the life of a roof.

Shingle to Metal Conversions
Thinking about switching to metal? We can replace an asphalt roof with a metal system and walk you through how the look, weight and upkeep compare.

Cleanup and Final Walk-Through
We clear the old materials from your property and walk the job with you at the end, so you can see the finished roof and ask any questions you have.

Roof Replacement Questions
Can a new roof go right over my old shingles?
Laying new shingles over old ones is sometimes done, but we prefer a full tear-off. Removing the old roof lets us find rot in the deck, adds no extra weight to the structure and gives the new underlayment and flashing a clean surface to sit on. It is the more thorough way to re-roof a home.
What are the signs my roof needs replacing?
Common signs include shingles that curl or crack, bald patches where the granules have washed away, granules piling up in the gutters, a deck that feels spongy underfoot and leaks that keep coming back after repairs. Daylight showing through the attic boards is another warning. If you notice several of these, it is worth having us take a look.
What happens if you find rotten decking?
Some surprises are normal under an old roof, especially on homes that have had slow leaks. When we find soft or rotted decking, we point it out to you and replace those sections before the new roof goes on. Your estimate explains how decking repairs are handled, so you know what to expect.
Is it worth switching from shingles to metal when I replace?
It depends on how long you plan to stay, your budget and the look you want. Metal costs more at the start but can serve for decades, while shingles cost less now and are simple to repair. We install both and will lay out the tradeoffs honestly for your home.
Do I need to be home during the replacement?
You do not need to be home the whole time, but we like to go over the plan with you at the start and walk the finished work with you at the end. It helps to move cars out of the driveway and take fragile items off walls below the attic, since tear-off can cause some vibration.
Can you replace just one section of my roof?
Sometimes a single slope or an addition wears out faster than the rest, often the side that takes the most sun or stays the most shaded and damp. In those cases a partial replacement may make sense. We will tell you whether the rest of the roof is close behind, so you can decide whether to do it all at once.
